Big is Gorgeous. That’s the message Sharmila Begum is trying to spread in Singapore.
Her company, Big is Gorgeous Pte Ltd, is more than a commercial venture. It’s a movement to create a supportive and encouraging community that caters to the physical and psychological needs of overweight women.
Plus-sized women too want to have jobs and beautiful clothing at reasonable prices. Plus-sized women can be attractive and desirable. That’s her message.
She runs make-up and grooming classes for large women and even offers belly-dancing and salsa classes to build their confidence and self-esteem.
